William Penn's Treaty with Indians 1682
(Item #: 649)

In 1682, William Penn sailed from England bound for America to claim the land granted to him by the British Government. Upon arriving in Pennsylvania, Penn and his Quaker friends made a verbal treaty with the Indians that worked so well for both groups that not one Quaker was killed or harmed by Indians during the course of Penn's life. This document features a beautiful artist's rendering of the verbal agreement being made between Penn and the Indian chiefs as well as an historical description of the event.
