Sam Davis' Letter to Mother and Father
(Item #: 916) Considered a Confederate hero, Sam Davis was hung by the Union military after a court martial found him guilty of being a spy. He was hung on November 27, 1863. This document is a reproduction of Sam Davis' letters to his mother and father, dated November 26, 1863. Certain of his own death the following day, Davis wrote his final, heartfelt farewells. The letters are reproduced in Sam Davis' own handwriting and feature his signature.
